Back-to-school season is a time of excitement for many children, but for families struggling with the rising cost of school supplies, it can also bring stress and uncertainty. Thanks to the Lions Club of Dominica, three students are beginning the year with confidence and the material they need to succeed.

Through its annual Back-to-School Drive which is supported by members, The Lions Club of Dominica provided backpacks filled with essential supplies and also school shoes to three students from different communities.

• Sherwanie, a grade 3 student, received a backpack of supplies to assist in preparing to face the new school year.  His teacher shared that students like Sherwanie are more engaged when they come to class prepared.
  
• Dario, also of grade 3  will be better prepared to take his notes with the supplies which he received.   Both students were recommended by  their teacher who saw their potential but recognized that school supplies were not readily available.
  
• Hubert, a Grade 6 student, was very grateful for his school supplies and school shoes to ensure that he began his final year of school ready to ace his assignments and make his parents proud.

“Every child deserves the chance to walk into school confident and ready to learn,” said President of the Lions Cub of Dominica . “Something as simple as a backpack filled with supplies can ease the burden on families and give students the start they deserve”. The Lions Club of Dominica will continue to support local children throughout the year with programs designed to remove barriers to education.
