La Plaine Man Publishes Book of Gay Poems

A man from La Plaine has published a book of poems primarily focused on gay men called “75 Mostly Gay Poems” on amazon.com. The author, Chad Newton, is a gay man who was born in La Plaine and now lives in Pennsylvania in the United States. The book features 75 poems written by Newton over the past few years.

Newton is a registered nurse in Pennsylvania. He works at a hospital with patients who have lung problems. Newton is a former teacher in the city of Philadelphia, where he taught special education English for more than seven years. Before that, Newton worked as a television producer and reporter for the News 12 networks in the New York City area and for WTVH in Syracuse, New York.

Chad Newton decided to write the poems focusing on the gay community because he feels that there is a need for it. Newton believes there is a shortage of poetry about the lives of gay men. His poems focus on the struggles of those who grow up to find out that they’re gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.

The poems bring attention to the joys shared by the gay community, some of its problems, and other variations. The book is available on amazon.com for purchase. Newton hopes that it will reach some of the young people who may be struggling to come to terms with their sexuality. He hopes it lets them know that they’re not alone. Newton adds that one of the poems is about Dominica and how it was impacted by Hurricane Maria.

Newton was with a team of nurses and doctors who traveled to Dominica by boat a few days after Maria to help with the recovery efforts.
