In a continued effort to bolster school safety and enhance early childhood and primary education, IsraAID Dominica officially handed over a suite of essential media and learning equipment to 17 early childhood learning centres today. The contribution aims to bridge the gap between interactive learning and disaster preparedness for the island’s youngest learners.

The handover ceremony was attended by key education officials, teachers, and representatives from the recipient schools. The contribution package which includes mini projectors, projector screens, Bluetooth speakers, and megaphones is designed to serve a dual purpose: modernizing classroominstruction and strengthening emergency communication during safety drills.

During the keynote address, the IsraAID Country Director Mrs. Velma Moses Joseph emphasized that “safe schools create stronger communities.”

“The equipment we are handing over today may seem simple, but the purpose behind these tools is significant,” the Country Director stated. “These resources are intended to help create more engaging learning experiences, strengthen communication during emergencies, and support schools in maintaining safe and well-prepared environments.”

A central theme of the event was the integration of the Kay and Kelan Early Childhood Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Toolkit. This specialized resource uses storytelling and games to teach toddlers abouthazards and preparedness. Many of the schools present were instrumental in the early pilot stages of the toolkit, providing feedback that shaped its implementation across the Eastern Caribbean.

Voices from the Ministry of Education: Education officials expressed deep gratitude for the holistic approach taken by the organization, noting that the partnership goes beyond hardware.

Mrs. Ginelle Ferrol, Assistant Early Childhood Development Officer, highlighted the impact of the ongoing support: “We thank IsraAID for all the contributions and everything, because you don’t only give the items, you provide the workshops, the information, and the knowledge that you pass on. All of that is very essential, and I know the schools, the children, and the teachers benefit a lot from your work. We look forward to more.”

Ms. Nadia Ferrol, Assistant Chief Education Officer, added:”We appreciate IsraAID’s commitment to supporting education in Dominica, especially in these formative years. Your contribution will help shape the minds of our future leaders and citizens. These resources will quickly enhance the learning experience of all students, especially the little ones, making lessons more engaging, innovative, and interactive.”

The Country Director concluded by urging school to maintain the equipment so it may serve multiple cohorts of students, noting that when children bring safety messages home to their families, the entire community becomes more resilient.

This initiative is part of IsraAID’s long-term commitment to Dominica, moving beyond crisis response to build sustainable local capacity and disaster awareness from the ground up.
