Invest Dominica Authority prepares to host Trade Missions from French Islands in its bid to increase Foreign Direct Investment in the Local Economy

The Invest Dominica Authority (IDA) is taking on several initiatives as part of efforts to increase foreign direct investments. According to the Executive Director of the IDA, Ms. Rhoda Joseph, these missions from the French West Indies are a part of the Authorities’ strategy to increase foreign direct investments and to seek partnerships with foreign investors in key areas of sectoral interests.

“We have been working with the Chambers of Commerce of Guadeloupe and Martinique in the identification and targeting of investors in the French territories interested in investing in Dominica either through green field projects, joint venture, or partnership. As part of these efforts, IDA will host an inward investment mission from June 12 – 17, 2022 comprising of forty (40) businesspersons representing twelve (12) companies in Guadeloupe and ten (10) companies in Martinique. These businesspeople have expressed interest in considering Dominica as an investment destination and will be engaged in a series of activities during their visit to include: (i) Business matching meetings, (ii) site visits to business of interests and investment areas, and (iii) site visits to Dominica’s natural attractions, which have been
arranged to take full advantage of their stay on island”, Ms. Joseph said.

The IDA will be placing a strong focus on attracting investments in manufacturing and agro-processing, organic agriculture, creative, knowledge & digital sector as potential investment opportunities. Investments in eco-tourism accommodations and ancillary services will also be featured during the mission. Invest Dominica Authority is also keen to listen to opportunities on possible new investment ventures that will be of mutual benefit to Dominica and the French West Indies.

As the economy continues its steady path of recovery, the IDA is supporting Government’s vision of making Dominica the first climate resilient country in the world and will continue to seek new opportunities and target sustainable investments that would redound to improving the lives and livelihood of our citizens.
