HEDY(Helping Educate Dominica Youth), a nonprofit organization formed in 2011 by Cheryl Plummer and a few of her friends on Monday donated backpacks with school supplies to students from the Giraudel and Morne Prosper Primary Schools.

According to ms. Plummer, every year one or two schools are selected based on need to receive donations. She said further that at HEDY, the motto is ‘To provide the less fortunate students of Dominica with basic school supplies to help gain equal opportunity at an education through the help of donations’.

A total of 25 students from the Giraudel Primary School were blessed with backpacks loaded with schools supplies.

Congratulations to HEDY for a job well done and a fitting motto that of ‘providing equal access to education’. We all know how important it is to have basic school supplies, not only for academic performance but also for morale and self confidence.
