Grant Agreements Signed to Advance Biodiversity Conservation Efforts in Dominica

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy, in collaboration with the Dominica National Conservation Trust Fund (DNCTF), today hosted a Grant Award Ceremony to officially hand over funding support under the Caribbean Regional Architecture for Biodiversity (CRAB) Grant Programme.

The ceremony took place on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities (DADP) Conference Facility on Canal Lane, Roseau, and brought together government officials, conservation partners, and project stakeholders.

The event highlighted two key environmental initiatives that will benefit from grant funding:

  • Rapid Response to Lethal Yellowing Disease in Coconut Ecosystems
  • Coral Reef Restoration, Monitoring, Surveillance and Compliance

During the ceremony, grant agreements were formally signed, marking the commencement of activities under the two projects. Presentations were also delivered by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy and partner organizations, outlining the objectives, expected outcomes, and importance of the initiatives.

Officials emphasized that the projects will play a vital role in protecting Dominica’s natural resources, strengthening biodiversity conservation efforts, and enhancing the country’s resilience to environmental challenges.

The CRAB Grant Programme supports regional efforts to conserve biodiversity and promote sustainable management of ecosystems across the Caribbean, while fostering collaboration among governments, communities, and environmental organizations.
