GICSRD-CCI Forum: Should we COP Out?

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Global Institute for Climate-Smart and Resilient Development (GICSRD) in collaboration with the Canada-Caribbean Institute will host a Virtual Discussion entitled Should we COP out? COP 27/COP 28 Canada and Caribbean Perspectives: Addressing Gaps and Collaborating to Build Resilient Communities, on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

This forum will critically examine the effectiveness of the Conference of the Parties (COP), a crucial international platform for climate action, which will convene for its 28th session in November 2023. The urgency of this discussion stems from the growing impact of climate change, evident in events like wildfires in Canada and extreme weather in the Caribbean.

Key Speakers include Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, Vice-Chancellor of The UWI; Dr. David Farrar, President and Vice-Chancellor of McMaster University; Dr. Ainka Granderson, Senior Technical Officer, Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI); Patricia Fuller, Senior Fellow, University of Ottawa; Kishan Kumarsingh, Head, Multilateral Environment Agreements, Ministry of Planning and Development, Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago; Dr. Orville Grey, Head of Secretariat, NAP Global Network, International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD); Dr. Legena Henry, Mechanical Engineer and Lecturer in Renewable Energy, The UWI, Cave Hill Campus; and Professor Michael Taylor, Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology, The UWI, Mona Campus.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
