The National Bank of Dominica Ltd. (NBD) proudly announces its continued collaboration with the Ministry of Sports to host the highly anticipated NBD/Sports Division Primary Schools Football Championship. Embracing its role in youth development, NBD is honoured to sponsor this event, fostering sportsmanship and nurturing future national football stars.

The official launch of the championship took place on February 07, 2024, at Lindo Park, signaling the beginning of an exciting season of football. The inaugural games showcased the talents of students from four schools: Saint Mary’s Primary, Convent Preparatory, Roseau Primary, and Goodwill Primary School.

This year marks the 16th anniversary of NBD’s sponsorship of the championship, a testament to the bank’s commitment to empowering individuals to succeed. Mrs. Adrie Nicholas, representing NBD, remarked, “For the past sixteen (16) years, the National Bank of Dominica Ltd. has remained dedicated to enriching lives through initiatives like this Football Championship.”

Mrs. Nicholas further emphasized, “This collaboration between NBD and the Ministry of Sports, Culture, and Community Development was driven by a shared aspiration to cultivate a championship that nurtures and empowers young footballers.” To date, NBD has invested over $250,000 in the championship, witnessing remarkable outcomes as participants in the programme have emerged as star players on both the national team and overseas university teams, highlighting the transformative power of sports.

With 45 primary schools participating this year, the championship promises an exhilarating season filled with talent and passion. NBD extends its best wishes to all participating schools and looks forward to witnessing the growth and success of young athletes in the spirit of friendly competition.
