Florida Caribbean Cruise Association Invites Dominican Students to Participate in 2026 Children’s Essay and Poster Competition

Initiative promotes sustainable tourism awareness, environmental responsibility and youth creativity across Dominica

The Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), in collaboration with the Discover Dominica Authority, is inviting students across Dominica to participate in the 2026 FCCA Foundation Children’s Essay and Poster Competition, an initiative focused on sustainable tourism, environmental stewardship and youth engagement.

The annual competition encourages students to explore the importance of sustainability within the cruise tourism industry while showcasing their creativity and critical thinking skills.

The 2026 Essay Competition will be held under the theme: “What are a few unique things a cruise passenger can enjoy only when visiting my destination?” Participants are encouraged to highlight the distinctive experiences available in Dominica and examine the role of sustainability in preserving the island’s tourism product.

The Poster Competition, themed “Ocean Protection Starts with Us,” invites students to creatively illustrate the importance of marine conservation and environmental responsibility.

Both competitions will be conducted in the following categories:
• Junior Division: Ages 12 years and under
• Senior Division: Ages 13 to 16 years

Prizes will be awarded to both students and their respective schools as follows:

Junior Division (Ages 12 & under)
• 1st Place: Laptop (Student) and $3,000 (School)
• 2nd Place: Touchscreen Device (Student) and $1,500 (School)
• 3rd Place: Touchscreen Device (Student) and $1,000 (School)

Senior Division (Ages 13–16 years)
• 1st Place: Laptop (Student) and $3,000 (School)
• 2nd Place: Touchscreen Device (Student) and $1,500 (School)
• 3rd Place: Touchscreen Device (Student) and $1,000 (School)

Students entering the Essay Competition are required to submit a 500-word essay in English addressing the theme of sustainable cruise tourism. All submissions must be submitted through their respective schools and delivered to the Discover Dominica Authority, Ground and First Floor, Marpin House, 5–7 Great Marlborough Street, Roseau, no later than Friday, October 23, 2026.

The FCCA Foundation continues to support educational and environmental initiatives across the Caribbean while strengthening collaboration between regional destinations and the cruise industry.

Winners and their respective schools will be notified by Friday, December 4, 2026, through the Discover Dominica Authority.
