ECCB Consults Banking Sector Ahead of Launch of Office of Financial Conduct

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) has continued preparations for the launch of its Office of Financial Conduct (OFC) with a stakeholder consultation session involving members of the Bankers Association in St. Kitts and Nevis and Anguilla.

The session, held at the ECCB Headquarters on June 4, was led by Chief Director (Policy), Dr. Tracy Polius, and focused on key aspects of the new regulatory framework that will govern financial consumer protection and business conduct.

Presentations covered topics including market conduct requirements for licensed financial institutions, the ECCB’s supervisory powers, the Financial Dispute Resolution Commission, and new codes of conduct for complaints handling and financial consumer access and inclusion.

The Office of Financial Conduct is scheduled to begin operations in September 2026 and will be responsible for overseeing financial consumer protection and business conduct matters for institutions licensed under the Banking Act.

The consultation forms part of a series of stakeholder engagements being conducted by the ECCB as it advances preparations for the establishment of the new office.
