ECCB Consults Bankers in St. Vincent Ahead of Office of Financial Conduct Launch

A delegation from the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), led by Chief Director (Policy), Dr. Tracy Polius, met with members of the Bankers Association in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on June 18 as part of ongoing stakeholder consultations ahead of the launch of the Office of Financial Conduct (OFC) in September 2026.

The consultation focused on enhancing understanding of the OFC’s role in promoting fair business practices and protecting financial consumers throughout the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU).

Discussions covered several key areas, including market conduct requirements for licensed financial institutions, the ECCB’s supervisory powers relating to market conduct, the role of the Financial Dispute Resolution Commission, and new Codes of Conduct for complaints handling and financial consumer access and inclusion.

The Office of Financial Conduct will be responsible for overseeing financial consumer protection and business conduct matters for institutions licensed under the Banking Act. The initiative is expected to strengthen confidence, transparency, and accountability across the region’s financial sector.

The engagement in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines marks the third in a series of consultations being conducted by the ECCB as preparations continue for the establishment of the Office of Financial Conduct later this year.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
