The Ministry of Health is observing January as Drug Awareness Month under the theme: “Youth! Let’s talk about alcohol and other drugs: A conversation that could change your life.” In this light, Acting Director of the Drug Prevention Unit, Ms. Martha Jarvis wants to continue the vigorous drive to engage Dominica’s youth especially on the impact of alcohol and other drugs on their lives.

Ms. Jarvis stated that having a conversation with the youth will help the Unit to gather information on their state of mind. The Unit is also seeking to engage drivers due to the higher levels of road accidents of late. Activities for the remainder of the month include a Drug Symposium Exhibition, Anti Drug Works and Anti Drug Rallies with 4-H clubs.
