Drug Abuse Prevention Unit Holds Successful Awareness Month

The Drug Abuse Prevention Unit observed Drug Awareness month in January.

The month of activities began with a church service at Truth and Grace Fellowship Global in Kingshill and ended with a rally at St.Joseph and Castle Bruce.

According to the Director at the National Drug Abuse Prevention Unit, Martha Jarvis, one of the activities the unit took on this year was a community walk through. The communities chosen were Dublanc, Atkinson, Morne Prosper and Pointe Mitchel. This allowed for one on one interaction with villagers and allowed them to see the Unit on a ground level and receive information and pamphlets from employees of the Drug Abuse Prevention Unit.

There were exhibitions held at St. Joseph and Newton which were well attended by surrounding schools.

The month of activities culminated with an Anti Drug March and Rally at Castle Bruce and St.Joseph.

The Drug Abuse Prevention Unit continues to do its part in educating the public so as to prevent drug abuse among individuals.
