What happens if you try to go bowling on the moon? Have Anansi and Tiger ever tried that?
You may find out if you come to the improvised theatre show by Dominica’s first improv group, Mission Improvable.
Improvised theatre is like watching a series of comedy plays come to life without a script, props, or costumes, but with all the characters, emotions, and happy/dramatic endings you could wish for.
Improv shows are unique in every way – every scene, every story is made up on the spot based on suggestions from the audience, so no show is ever the same. Mission Improvable’s latest public appearance involved an abduction by aliens and an escape on a flying pig (watch the video here), so there are really no limits to what might happen at the next show.
Mission Improvable, a group that formed as part of the Waitukubuli Artist Association in summer 2024, has performed with much acclaim at events such as Rhythm & Rhymes/Xpression at Ka Tai, at Lyrics Under The Stars, and at the Waitucirque Festival Nou Sé Histoire. Now, the group will host its first solo show.
The show’s format is inspired by the Caribbean folk tales of Anansi and Tiger: the performers will represent “team Anansi” and “team Tiger”, and compete through a series of different improvisation games. The audience will get to decide who was the better or the funnier team at the end, thereby concluding Anansi’s and Tiger’s famous rivalry.
“Improv is a very special type of performance, for both the audience and the performers”, said Sonja Wiencke, who founded Mission Improvable, “as an audience member, you’re not just passively sitting there, watching some talented people on a stage, you’re co-creating the performance through your suggestions. And as a performer it’s exciting because you have to use everything you’ve got – your intuition, your intellect, your technical skills that we practice in rehearsals, and your team. Fortunately, Mission Improvable is made up of amazing people, and we have gotten very good at playing off each other’s ideas.”
“It’s fun seeing someone, on cue, say something that might or might not make sense – that is the funny part. Every show has been a wonderful experience”, said Helenia D., who has watched almost every performance of Mission Improvable’s so far.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
