Dominican to enter The Favorite Chef Competition in an effort to promote Dominican Cuisine

Mayma Massicot Raphael is a Dominican living abroad from the Northern village of Thibaud. She started food blogging during the height of the pandemic about Dominican foods and sharing recipes, videos, and photographs on her blog, Dominicagourmet.com
Through Mayma’s passion for cooking, she decided to enter The Favorite Chef competition to help promote Dominican cuisine on an international level. The winner of the competition will be awarded $50,000 and a spread in Bon Appetite Magazine. She’s currently in 1st place in her group. Mayma wants to continue to rank high and needs help to remain at the top. Free voting is daily until the end of the competition. So please cast your vote for Mayma Raphael to help her win.
Mayma thinks that winning this competition isn’t only beneficial to her and the promotion of Dominica. She’s hoping that if she wins, the youths in Dominica can benefit from a donation. This isn’t the first time that Mayma shows generousity to the youth in Dominica, as she and her family have often supported youth on the island. She most recently donated laptops to the Thibaud primary school and the Wesley High School.
Mayma also sees winning the competition as an opportunity further to share her recipes through a very well-curated cookbook.  According to Mayma, “I’d like to continue to elevate Dominican cuisine. I’ve been so blessed to grow up on the island of Dominica, where I learned to cook, watching my mother and grandmother. My goal is to keep on showcasing our foods and introduce them to others while preserving some traditional recipes.”
The final competition ends in early April, so continue to vote for Mayma daily and help put Dominica on the culinary map.
