Dominican teen living in Antigua Receives Life Saving Surgeries After Being Mugged

Seventeen-year-old Jahhym Azoo, from Massacre, Dominica has undergone a number of surgeries at the Mount St. John’s Medical Center (MSJMC). Azoo needed the surgeries after being robbed and beaten last week in the Grays Farm area by a gang of boys.

His doctors had said that his chances of survival were  50 percent because of bleeding on his brain, but with surgery, they believe that they would be able to control the bleeding. The operations were performed by three doctors from Trinidad and Tobago.

Eyewitnesses report that Jahhym Azoo was walking in the vicinity of the Greenbay Primary School on Thursday evening when five males attacked him and robbed him of a pair of Adidas slippers and his cellular phone. He resisted the attack but the robbers became more violent beating him to the ground and stomping on his face repeatedly.

Azoo had recently arrived in Antigua. His mother is appealing to the public to come forward with information so that the robbers do not get away with this crime.
