Women of Dominica, a powerful documentary celebrating the resilience, cultural heritage, and environmental stewardship of Dominican women, has been honored as a “Project We Love” by Kickstarter — a recognition given to standout campaigns selected by the platform’s editorial team for their creativity, storytelling, and impact.
Since launching, the project has gained overwhelming support from both Dominicans and the global community. It is now almost 90% funded with only three days left to reach its goal. The team is calling for a final wave of pledges to help bring this important Dominican story to audiences around the world.
Directed by Dominican-born filmmaker Farrah La Ronde-Hutchison, Women of Dominica shares the voices of ten extraordinary women from across the island. Through their personal narratives, the film captures intergenerational mentorship, cultural preservation, and the protection of Dominica’s rich biodiversity. Filmed against the breathtaking landscapes of one of the world’s most biodiverse islands, the documentary also highlights how women serve as guardians of both culture and nature.
“This recognition from Kickstarter is an incredible honor, it tells us that our story resonates far beyond our shores,” said Director Farrah La Ronde-Hutchison. “We are so close to making this film a reality, but we need our community, at home and abroad, to stand with us in these last few days. Every pledge and every share will help bring our voices to the world.”
The funds pledged will complete post-production, including editing, sound design, and color grading, and will support festival submissions and educational outreach to schools and cultural organizations.
How to Support:
Dominicans and supporters worldwide can back the project directly on Kickstarter by visiting: https://bit.ly/3TnTzrM. Pledges of any size are welcome, and supporters can choose from a variety of rewards, including handcrafted pieces made in collaboration with Kalinago artisans from the Kalinago Territory.
With only 3 days remaining, Women of Dominica is making its final push to the finish line. This is an opportunity for the Dominican community to ensure this powerful film reaches the international stage.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
