The Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with Third Illusion Design, proudly unveils the DOMINICA Sign, a striking art installation now standing along the Roseau Bayfront. The project marks the official opening of the 2025 tourist season and celebrates Dominica’s cultural identity, creativity, and community pride.
Designed and constructed by Third Illusion Design, the new installation reflects the pillars of tourism that define the Nature Island: nature, culture, adventure, heritage, and wellness. Each letter tells a story through vibrant color, texture, and symbolism, capturing Dominica’s natural beauty, traditional artistry, and the warmth of its people.
The project exemplifies the Ministry’s commitment to integrating local creativity into the tourism landscape while showcasing Third Illusion Design’s mission to merge art, sustainability, and storytelling through community-based design.
“This installation is more than a photo-op, it’s a symbol of who we are as a people,” said Nicole Morson, Cofounder and Creative Director of Third Illusion Design. “Every brushstroke represents the heart of Dominica, bold, colorful, and full of life. Art plays an essential role in tourism; it transforms how visitors experience a destination and how locals see themselves reflected within it. For us, the island of Dominica is the perfect muse, from her rivers to her mountains, she gives us inspiration daily. This sign is a depiction of all that Dominica gives us freely, and through our partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, this was our way of giving back.”
Co-founder Ray Francis added, “There’s something truly powerful about seeing an idea take shape, from vision to creation. Art doesn’t just transform spaces; it connects people, strengthens identity, and has the ability to shape the very community around it.”
