Roseau, Dominica — September 18, 2025, The Dominica Planned Parenthood Association (DPPA) held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, reaffirming its commitment to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights for all. The meeting concluded with the election of a new Board of Directors, with Mr. Phillip Carlisle re-elected as President for a second term.
Mr. Carlisle reflected on the organization’s resilience and progress in his President’s Report: “Though confronted with major challenges, DPPA continues to play its role in channelling the lives of persons within our society, especially those who may not have the resources to do their best. We are grateful for those who have lent their support in many ways over the last three years and anticipate continued support in the coming years.”
Mr. Sylvester Jno Baptiste was re-elected unopposed for a second term on the Board, continuing his service as Secretary. The full slate of elected Board members includes:
∙ Mrs. Irma Raymond – Vice President
∙ Ms. Rhoda St. John – Treasurer
∙ Ms. Ghislene Paul – Assistant Secretary/Treasurer
∙ Ms. Keisha Polydore – Member
∙ Mr. Oliver St. John – Member
Executive Director Mrs. Natasha Jervier-Carbon delivered a powerful report on the Association’s achievements and future direction:
“Despite every difficulty, DPPA remains fully operational and unwaveringly committed to serving the people of Dominica. We have not only survived challenges, but we have also grown stronger, more inclusive, and more impactful.”
She highlighted key milestones, including the revitalization of the Youth Advocacy Movement (YAM), expanded contraceptive options, and the launch of Dominica’s first braille sexuality education workbook for visually impaired youth.
“DPPA stands as a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for sexual and reproductive health, not just for women, not just for youth, but for every member of the Dominican family.”
The AGM also celebrated DPPA’s evolving role as “The Family Care Center,” with expanded services now reaching men, women, youth, and children across Dominica.
