The Dominica Hotel & Tourism Association (DHTA) continues to advance its mission to strengthen the tourism sector and deliver meaningful value to its members. In this month’s round-up, the DHTA proudly announces a new group health insurance benefit, welcomes a slate of new corporate sponsors, highlights a public-private milestone, and recaps its latest ACTalks presentation.
In a major milestone for the sector, the DHTA has partnered with Sagicor Life Inc. to offer group health insurance coverage to all active members of the Association. This initiative marks a significant step in affordability and access to healthcare for the island’s hospitality workers and small tourism operators.
This benefit is a direct result of DHTA’s commitment to adding tangible value to membership, making it easier for small tourism businesses and employees to access quality healthcare at affordable group rates.
“We extend our sincere thanks to Sagicor for partnering with us to make this long-standing goal of the Association a reality”, said DHTA President Kitwani Ferreira. “We are proud to make affordable group health coverage available to members, an important step toward improving the well-being and resilience of our sector, especially for small businesses and frontline employees.”
This benefit underscores the DHTA’s commitment to delivering tangible value to members and promoting long-term industry sustainability.
The DHTA is excited to welcome eleven (11) new members over the past four months, as we continue to advocate for stronger, more unified industry. We also gratefully acknowledge the growing support of our Corporate Sponsors, whose contributions play a vital role in fuelling our programs, advocacy, and development initiatives.
We proudly acknowledge:
Platinum Sponsor: J. Astaphan & Co. Limited
Gold Sponsors: Tomlin Insurance Brokers, Archipelago Trading Limited, Belfast Estate Limited, Auto Trade Ltd.
Silver Sponsor: Republic Bank (EC) Limited
The DHTA encourages other businesses and institutions to join us in shaping a vibrant, sustainable future for Dominica’s tourism sector.

Public-Private Partnership Secures Hyperbaric Chamber for Dominica
The DHTA in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, has successfully secured funding to support the recommissioning of the Hyperbaric Chamber, located at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital.
This achievement represents a critical step towards enhancing Dominica’s adventure tourism infrastructure, particularly within the dive industry, by expanding the island’s capacity to respond to dive-related emergencies and improving safety standards for visiting divers.
Once operational, the facility will further solidify Dominica’s position as a premier destination for responsible, high quality nature and adventure tourism.
The DHTA held its first ACTalk for 2025 on July, in partnership with Tomlin Brokers, focusing on the critical topic of insurance in the hospitality sector. The session provided practical insights into coverage options, of the opportunities, requirements and potential gaps – thereby empowering members to make informed decisions and better manage long-term business risks.
ACTalks are part of the DHTA’s ongoing efforts to equip members with practical knowledge and tools to navigate key challenges and opportunities in tourism.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
