Death Announcement of 90 year old Gwendolyn Elsie Joseph affectionately known as “Ma Gwendo” and “Granny” from Grand Bay who resided at Canefield.

We announce the death of 90-year-old Gwendolyn Elsie Joseph affectionately known as “Ma Gwendo” and “Granny” from Grand Bay who resided at Canefield.

She died at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital on 20th June, 2023.

She left to cherish her memories:

Her Husband: Vernon P Joseph

Her Children: Mona Graham, Annette Tavernier, Jeannette Massiah, Jefferson, Daniel, Neomi and Glen Joseph and Evelyn Joseph Charles

27 Grandchildren including: Sylma Jeremy, Joanne McIntosh, Vincent, Nina and Macaully Tavernier, Charleson, Jarez and Jarel Massiah, Pablita McPherson, Yolanda, Nezama, Nisha, Narvin, Nadisha, Ella and Grace-Ann Joseph, Shaquilla, Kaihil, and Kaela Charles.

Great Grandchildren: Ernelia Jean-Jacques, Emerald and Shaheem McIntosh, Camry and Wilson Tavernier, Ronaldo Hurtault, Sergio Joseph-Sweeney, Liam Charles

Brother: Masterlyn Labad (Deceased)

3 Daughters-in-Law to include: Sally Joseph

Sons-in-Law: Joseph Charles, Henry Tavernier, Charlesworth Massiah

Niece: Gertrude Labad 

5 Nephews to include: Hiram and Eustace Labad

3 Stepchildren to include: Merle Joseph and Family

Adopted Children: Louisa McPherson, Gwendolene Lloyd, Josephine Etienne, Evelyn Charles, Myrique Stevens, Faustina Joseph, Patricia Lee, Mary Deterville.

Close Cousins: Jane Blondeau, Noelette Joseph and family, Prosie and Naynay and others from Wesley, Morris Commodore and family, Heirs of Benoit and Elizabeth Commodore, Jones and Juliana Commodore, Justine Henderson, Francisca Rolle and the entire Commodore families of Grand Bay too numerous to mention.

Funeral service takes place on Friday 7th July, 2023 at the Expandable Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Morne Daniel Flat. Viewing begins at 2:30pm and the service at 3:00pm.  Burial will follow at the Roseau Public Cemetery.
