Colaire expressed heartily, “I made a promise to God that not only would I use my bakery as a source of income but also for his glory. Thus, the opportunity presented itself when Emonews made a post on behalf of Nurse Edwards asking individuals to donate non-perishable goods to the Covid-19 Frontline. When I saw the post, I remembered my promise to God and gladly welcomed the opportunity.”

She explained that she initiated this project by preparing snacks for the Covid-19 Frontline workers who were located at the Portsmouth Beach Hotel (PBH). After posting a short video to encourage others to make similar contributions, she received many words of support and encouragement. Thereafter, Colaire sought the assistance of three (3) other sole proprietors, Sandy Joseph-Lockhart, co-owner of Jerlocks Enterprise, Amoy Mason of Bense, a Hair Dresser and Lisa Walters of Portsmouth, Daycare Owner.

She pointed out that the group provides snacks to the frontline workers every Tuesday and Thursday. “So far, there has not been any major challenges in our group. We reached out to persons and they have been receptive. Persons have been contributing fruits, sugar, flour and whatever they have,” she voiced.

She expounded that after requesting one dollar from each of her contacts to purchase bottles, the following day she was able to purchase 240 bottles along with a quarter (1/4) bag of sugar. Lockhart expressed that this venture has touched many lives and commended each person who has made it possible. She concluded, “I encourage persons out there to reach out and contribute. In this season of Covid-19, although we have to social distance, each one can reach one!”
