Chief Electoral Officer has provided details on the ongoing voter confirmation proces taking place across Dominica.
According to Anthia Joseph, “Confirmation is the process by which an elector whose name appeared on the voters list as of May 2025 has his or her name entered into the new voters list, compiled in accordance with the 2025 Registration of Electors Act.”
She explained that confirmation will be conducted only in Dominica at designated confirmation centres in every constituency, some of which will have multiple centres. The process will be managed by enrolment officers appointed by the Chief Registering Officer, who must first take an oath before performing their duties.
Only persons listed on the May 2025 voters list are eligible to be confirmed. Applicants must appear in person at the confirmation centre in the constituency where they were registered to vote and must bring a witness who is registered in the same polling district.
Acceptable identification for Dominican citizens includes a valid passport, driver’s licence, or social security card. Commonwealth citizens must present a valid passport from a Commonwealth country along with an official government ID or a certified affidavit of identity.
Applicants are required to bring original documents and copies. Certified copies are accepted only if verified by a Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Oaths, or Notary Public.
During the process, the enrolment officer will verify the applicant’s eligibility, assist with completing the confirmation form, capture a photograph, and scan all supporting documents. A receipt of confirmation will then be issued to eligible applicants.
If there is any uncertainty—such as discrepancies in names or identity—the matter will be referred to senior staff at the Electoral Office for verification. Persons denied confirmation may appeal to the Chief Registering Officer using the appropriate form.
Miss Joseph emphasized that while enrolment officers carry out the process, the final decision on confirmation rests with the Chief Registering Officer.
