Celebrating the Legacy of Edward Oliver LeBlanc:Poetry & Jazz Cocktail Event

Edward Oliver LeBlanc, remembered as Dominica’s last Chief Minister and first Premier, was also a poet whose words resonated with the soul of the island. In recognition of his remarkable legacy, Jungle Bay Resort, MAC Services Inc., the E.O. LeBlanc family, and the Alwin Bully Foundation Inc. have joined forces to present a Poetry and Jazz Cocktail. This special event will showcase LeBlanc’s recently published book of poems, “Fragments of the Dawn”, offering the public a unique glimpse into his creative genius.

The Poetry and Jazz Cocktail will take place at Jungle Bay Resort at 6 pm on Saturday, 2nd May 2026. This occasion is a fringe event leading up to Jazz Creole 2026, adding cultural depth to the festival’s celebrations.

Students from secondary schools in the Roseau catchment area, along with cast members from the recent theatrical production STREAK, will participate in the poetry reading session. Their performances will be complemented by live jazz entertainment from some of Dominica’s finest artists, creating a vibrant fusion of literature and music.

The organizers aim to foster greater awareness of E.O. LeBlanc’s contributions to Dominica’s development, especially in the arts. By celebrating his poetry and encouraging participation in the performing arts, they hope to inspire renewed interest and engagement within the community.

Tickets for the Poetry and Jazz Cocktail are available at Jay’s Bookstore and Jungle Bay Resort for EC$150.00. Advance purchase is required to secure entry to this exclusive event.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
