ART EXHIBITION, “I AM KALINAGO” – FEATURING WORKS BY FRANCILIA AGAR SCHOFIELD, MOVES TO BWA DENN AT SECRET BAY

Following its successful showcase at Fort Young Hotel, the I Am Kalinago art exhibition will move to Bwa Denn at Secret Bay from February 10 to April 22, 2025, offering visitors a unique opportunity to engage with the rich cultural heritage of the Kalinago people.

Curated to celebrate the resilience, identity, and creativity of Dominica’s indigenous community, the “I Am Kalinago” exhibition features a stunning collection of works by Dominican Francilia Agar Schoeld. Through her paintings, the exhibition highlights the deep connection between the Kalinago people and their ancestral traditions. The transition of “I Am Kalinago” to Bwa Denn at Secret Bay—an intimate and immersive gallery space at Dominica’s premier eco-luxury resort—underscores Secret Bay’s commitment to cultural preservation and artistic expression.

“We are honored to bring ‘I Am Kalinago’ to Bwa Denn, where guests can connect deeply with the stories and heritage of Dominica’s indigenous community,” said Curator Aaron Hamilton. “This showcase is more than an art display—it is a statement of identity, resilience, and the living legacy of the Kalinago people.”

The art exhibition opens daily at Bwa Denn from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Reservations are
required.

About the Artist: Francilia Agar Schoeld is multi talented, having excelled in music in Dominica and internationally. She currently has her own music studio with over 70 private students in ute, piano and kindermusic classes. Francilia is also the first Kalinago Carnival Queen, winning the title in 1993, and has also represented Dominica in swimming in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
