Speaking in an exclusive interview with Emonews, Mrs. Nicole Jno.baptiste said that the Social Welfare Division is not the police and cannot do the job of the police.

She said further that not every case calls for a child to be removed from a home. Mrs. Jno.baptiste made these statements in response to a statement that the Division does not do anything about reports of child abuse cases.

The child abuse Prevention Unit will kick off a week of activities for Universal Children’s Day beginning on Sunday 17 with a candlelight vigil at the Independence Arch in Roseau.

Other activities include a consultation with practitioners on Tuesday, painting of a mural at Massacre Primary on Wednesday( Universal Children Day) and radio programmes and block discussions in different villages on Friday.

The week of activities will be celebrated under the theme, ‘Every Child Deserves a Great Childhood’Jno. Baptiste urged the general public to come out and support the activities in large numbers.
