Men’s Health and Gender Awareness Day – “Sensitizing and Educating Extension and Frontline Officers on the importance of Healthy Living”

 WUSC Caribbean (Dominica) Inc. under the Sustainable Agriculture in the Caribbean (SAC) project in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy (MOAFBGE), as part of the observation of International Men’s Day, will be hosting a Men’s Health and Gender Awareness Day, highlighting men as positive role models and raising awareness of overall well-being of the male employees under the theme adopting the theme for 2023, “ZERO MALE SUICIDE”;  Together we can stop male suicide!

This event is scheduled for Thursday, November 23, 2023, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm at Fort Shirley, Cabrits National Park, Portsmouth, Dominica

The Men’s Health and Gender Awareness Day, aims to focus on the importance of men’s mental health, their general well-being and small lifestyle changes that can help to prevent Non-Communicable Diseases. The event seeks to promote and facilitate the active participation of extension officers, plant protection and quarantine officers and support staff of the Emergency Agricultural Livelihoods and Climate Resilience Project from all seven (7) agricultural regions, in addition to male farmers from the North Agricultural Region, including male members of farmer groups that WUSC has been actively working with.

The day will be a mix up of team building exercises, discussions and information segments whereby notable speakers will shed light on the various topics including Mental Health and Wellness, Healthy Living and Prostate Cancer, and Nutrition and Lifestyle Changes to Prevent Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
