The DCF held the finals of the 2023 Big W National Chess Tournament over the weekend of June 30^th to July 2^nd. After 7 rounds of round robin games the tournament ended with last year’s champion retaining his title. Following are the top 3 winners:

1^st place – Nigel K. Francis – 5 wins out of 7

2^nd place – Larry Thomas – 4.5 wins out of 7

3^rd place – Romel Laudat – 4.5 wins out of 7

(The tie breaking procedures according to tournament rules were used to determine the 2^nd and 3^rd placements.)
