Dominica to participate at 2023 Central American and Caribbean games

By press release of June 19th 2023, Dominica Olympic Committee (DOC) announced its representation at the Caribbean and Central American (CAC) Games 2023 held in El Salvador. The games include participating countries from Central America, the Caribbean, Bermuda, Mexico and South America. Dominica is represented by an eleven (11) member contingent comprising of six (6) athletes and five (5) officials, competing in Athletics, Boxing and Swimming.

The team includes Chef De Mission, Mr. Egbert Charles, swimming coach Francillia Schofield, athletics coach Aaron Gadson, boxing coach Job Joseph and athletes Jasmine Schofield, Thea Lafond, Tristan James, Dennick Luke, Delroy Jno. Charles and Joshua Toussaint.

The Opening ceremony of the games is to be held today Friday June 23, 2023 and will continue for a duration of two weeks until its culmination on July 8th 2023.

Dominica will be represented for the first time by a female (Jasmine Schofield) in swimming while Delroy Jno. Charles faces the possibility of becoming the first Dominican boxer to receive a medal in the 2023 CAC games and the first in many years to receive a medal at an international boxing competition.

As the team faces their rivals, Emonews wishes the Dominican delegation all the best in all three sporting disciplines.
