The Dominica Social Security as part of its 45th year anniversary made presentations to a number of organizations around the island.
The organizations who received the donation thanked the DSS especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that the DSS has experienced a drop in income. Many of the organizations themselves have experienced a drop in contributions from businesses who have been affected by the pandemic. The organizations praised the DSS and affirmed that the donation is timely and will be put to good use.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the DSS, Anthony Joseph said, “As have been done over the course of the last several years, the DSS board continues on an annual basis to set aside a small portion of its administrative budget for the purpose of making a financial contribution to the work of a number of charitable organizations and the causes who are themselves intended on making a positive difference in the lives of the clients and the patrons that they serve”.
He said that the presentations are proof that the DSS takes it responsibility seriously.
The charitable organizations presented to were:
The Alpha Centre, CALLS(Centre where Adolescents Learn to Love and Serve), Chances, Dominica Infirmary, DADP(Dominica Association of Disabled Persons), Education Trust Fund, Grotto Home for the Homeless, House of Hope, Mahaut Senior Citizens Home, St. Jerome’s Ministry and the Social Centre.
