Hon. Octavia Alfred, Education Minister on the Commonwealth of Dominica, took the opportunity to remind graduates of the Dominica State College that they live in a hard world.
She said, “Life is not always smooth sailing, the world out there us tough with global economic recession from the COVID-19 pandemic, climatic events and unemployment challenges”.
However she encouraged the graduates to be positive and understand that there is always a way out. She encouraged them to have the guts to continue their dream if they have a passion for knowledge, humility and wisdom.
She suggested “retraining and retooling in a skill if you have to and make your option, your choice”.
“Life is not easy, no short-cut either,” she said, “finances, time, intellect and emotion have to be managed well”.
Minister Alfred wished the graduates well as they celebrated this milestone in their lives.
Over 300 students graduated from the Dominica State College on Wednesday in an abridged graduation ceremony.
