  • To raise awareness among Caribbean people of the importance of tourism in the Caribbean,
  • To enhance the profile of the Caribbean tourism sector in the marketplace,
  • To reflect on the invaluable impact of tourism on the economic, social and cultural well-being in the Caribbean,
  • To attract positive media coverage for and of the Caribbean and the local tourism product and;
  • To celebrate the diversity of what the Caribbean offers.

With this year being the year of festivals, the month is being celebrated under the theme ‘Building One Caribbean legacy through festivals.’ Festivals are an expressive way to celebrate heritage, culture and traditions. They all serve the purpose of bringing happiness to our lives and strengthen our sense of community.

Dominica is famous throughout the Caribbean for fun, festive events throughout the year. There is no better way to experience the spirited and enlivening creole lifestyle than participating in one of our many festivals. From the one of a kind revelry and vibrant colours of Mas Domnik, The Real Mas, to the sweet sounds of Jazz ‘n Creole Festival at the Cabrits National Park to the three-night of pulsating rhythms of the World Creole Music Festival to the various village feasts and culinary events, Dominica offers entertainments for all tastes.

In observance of the month, activities will include radio quizzes, presentation on tourism with a focus on festivals to primary school students as well as participation in CTO’s social media campaign.
