It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Maydris Boniface Charles nรฉe Durand, better known as Sister May of Coulibistrie, who passed away at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital on Thursday, 14th August 2025, at the age of 78.
She leaves to mourn:
Eight Children
Daughters: Connie Roudette and Maryse Noel in Guadeloupe; Hazel Joseph in France; and Marie Claire Noel in Marie Galante.
Sons: Brenton Bobb in Guadeloupe; Jean Baptiste and Joselen Labrana in France; and Martin Junior Durand in Dominica.
Thirteen (13) Grandchildren: Diana, Kevin, Davell, Devin, Sicily, Rashane, Satchel, Chanaelle, Loumai, Winston, Soso, Jaina, and Jaylanni
Adoptive GrandChild: Nhyira Minette
Nine (9) Great-Grandchildren: Including Kemani, Kaylis, Delane, Eneika, Naomie, Nolan, Jordan, Jasonne, Ashcinci
Three Sisters: Helena and Lucila in England; Hilma in Guadeloupe.
Sister-in-law: Jonna Charles
Two Daughters -in-law: Ashley Durand and Katia Bobb
Nieces and Nephews including: Helen, Donny, Mervin, Reneth, Sharmaine Gerald Charles Jr. and Winston (others too numerous to mention).
Great-Grandnieces and Great-Grandnephews including: Kerrel, Amanda, Rachel, Sherma, Renos, Mickel, Shane, Wendel, Turney, Wessel ,Rennicka Wayne and others too numerous to mention .
Close Relatives and Friends including: Lilia and Michael Rodney, Shatal, Zillah, Frances and Abott Toussaint, Cowin, Michelle, Ferdinand, Jann, and Hon. Jesma Paul Victor, Christina,Jayleen,Peter and shirley Augustine (others too numerous to mention).
Caretakers: Mr.Vernon and Judith Lovell
She will also be remembered by: The Charles and Paul families of Coulibistrie and Morne Rachette;ย Elder David Fritz and Members of the Coulibistrie Gospel Mission Church; Staff of the Glover Ward at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital; and Nurses of the Coulibistrie Health Center.
Funeral Details: The body of the late Maydris Boniface Durand nรฉe Charles (Sister May) will be transported from the North-Eastern Funeral Home to the Coulibistrie Gospel Mission Church on Tuesday, 2nd September 2025. Viewing begins at 2:30 p.m., followed by the service at 3:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Anse Cola Burial Grounds.
The family of our dearly beloved Maydris would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all those who supported us in whichever way possible during this time of sadness, we greatly appreciate your efforts.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
