24 Year Old Entrepreneur Started Business With $500 Loan From Mom

Linvor Ambo from the village of Dublanc is one of Dominica’s most successful young entrepreneurs. He manages Allorzee Business Ventures Inc which produces Choco Dominique, a locally made instant Cocoa powder.

Ambo who has been the recipient of numerous awards including Most Determined Male Entrepreneur and Most Outstanding MSME Entrepreneur, says that finding funds to start his business was a real challenge. He is thankful for his primary investor, his mom, who loaned him $500. He also took advantage of and participated in every business competition he knew of and invested his prize money into his business.

Ambo’ s recent project is Allorzee Commerce LLC which is an online retailer for Choco Dominique and hopes to eventually make all Dominican products easily accessible.

Ambo says that he learned early in his career that he is unable to do everything by himself and so hired professionals to share the workload and who are also able to give great advice from years of experience. According to Ambo, there is also the need for proper partnerships in business.

Ambo hopes to create a business that is sustainable and contributes to the Dominican economy even after he is long gone.

Ambo was one of the panelists at the recently concluded DAIC Business Sustainability Symposium.
