The Paix Bouche Soft Ball Cricket Tournament is in its second year with the projection for a much bigger tournament in the years to come.

This year six teams will be competing against each other. They are Beauplan Imperials, Wire Renegades Asi Plat Strikers, Grande Riviere, Mamiton warriors and Boulichie Marooners. The games began on June 12th 2022 and will end on August 12th 2022.

Last year during our inaugural phase, all the teams mentioned expect Mamiton Warriors participated.

Coordinator of the tournament, Alexis George said the Boulichie Marooners were victorious in the last tournament.

“The Boulichie Marooners were crowned the champion of the inaugural tournament. One of the biggest accomplishments from last year’s tournament was the unearthing of our under 15 talents. His ability caught the attention of the administrators of the Dominica Cricket Association, to the point where he was drafted an academy and was later selected on the national under 15 cricket team.”

Last year, the tournament was very well supported by fans of all age groups from the community of Paix Bouche and neighboring communities.

“Every game was broadcast live on our very own Emo News and attracted a viewership in excess of one million nationally, regionally and internationally and Because of the interest generated from last year’s tournament, we added yet another team to this year’s competition and named it the Mamiton Warriors. All of the team names are geared toward the development of Agriculture and tourism within our communities.”

He noted that the atmosphere has been electric and virtual support have been outstanding adding that interest and inclusion of national players on each of the six teams in an effort to take the competition to another level.

“Our vision is to have at least twelve teams participate in our fourth year. We have had in excess of six hundred fans at every game from inception. We will do all we can possibly do to ensure that there is continuity and that our young men will be assisted in contributing meaningfully to the development of sports in Dominica.” he stated.

Nice Innitiative, but paix bouche has been a stronghold of labour for so many years without assistance. The area where this cricket is played is very very dangerous. Pipes, fences , drains . The old playing field was looked at as a possible development area but politicians have gone and bought land and built on it. PAIXBOUCHE NEED A PLAYING FIELD PERIOD. IF is one thing this parl rep can do and say she’s left a mark is this!
