
Kerris Shillingford of Fine Grass, Marigot, has earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) in Organizational Leadership from Western Illinois University. The achievement was celebrated during the university’s May 2025 Commencement ceremony in Macomb, Illinois.
Dr. Shillingford was among 50 Caribbean students recognized for completing degrees across various disciplines at the 125-year-old institution, according to a release from the university’s Center for Global Studies.
A proud graduate of St. Andrew’s High School, Dr. Shillingford previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (BSIS) in Special Education and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from MSU Texas.
Her doctoral research explored the challenges to inclusivity in early childhood education, particularly in kindergarten and lower elementary settings. She currently serves as a teacher in Wichita Falls, Texas.
