Head Coach of Dominica’s national athletics team, Nabi Wallace, has affirmed that the team is fully prepared for the games, following its final training session held on Friday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
Speaking just hours before the official start of the 2025 CARIFTA Games, Coach Wallace expressed confidence in the athletes’ readiness and mindset.
“The team is ready — physically and mentally,” Wallace stated. “We had a very productive session today. Coach Godwin worked closely with the throwers, while I handled the long jumpers. It was also an opportunity to test out the new track, which was valuable.”
Dominica will begin its campaign on Saturday morning with Kerelle Etienne competing in the Girls’ Under-20 100m dash at approximately 11:40 AM. Later in the evening, the team will make history by contesting the 4x400m mixed relay for the very first time.
“Kerelle received her program from her coach, and we supported her in completing that. Our 4x400m mixed relay team also had the chance to practice baton exchanges, which went well,” Wallace added.
Meanwhile, Coach Godwin Dorsette echoed Wallace’s optimism, sharing his belief that Dominica will start the competition on a strong note.
“Tomorrow we’re opening with the 100 meters and the mixed relay. I’m feeling confident. I see good things coming for Dominica,” Dorsette said.
Both athletes and coaching staff are aiming not only for podium finishes but also for personal bests and long-term athletic progression.
