Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association Welcomes United Airlines Flight from Newark to Dominica, Marking a New Chapter for Tourism Growth

The Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association (DHTA) expresses its excitement for United Airlines flight from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) in Dominica.

The introduction of this new route provides a much-needed boost to Dominica’s tourism industry, making it easier than ever for travelers to access the island. The convenience of a non-stop flight from Newark to Dominica will undoubtedly drive a significant increase in the number of stayover visitors, resulting in positive economic outcomes for the country’s tourism sector.

For the DHTA, this new connection is a pivotal moment that aligns with the association’s collaborative efforts alongside the Discover Dominica Authority, in promoting Dominica as a top Caribbean destination for eco-tourism, adventure, and cultural experiences. “The launch of the United Airlines flight from Newark is a momentous event for our Tourism Industry.” – said Kitwani Ferreira, President of the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association. “This new direct flight will enhance connectivity, providing a gateway for worldwide access to Dominica’s unparalleled natural beauty, and increase the volume of visitors, further boosting the island’s visibility in the competitive travel market. This growth will translate into more opportunities for our hotels, restaurants, tour operators, and local business partners.”

The influx of stayover visitors because of this new United Airlines route, along with the already established American Airlines direct flight out of Miami, is expected to have a positive impact on the nation’s GDP. The DHTA estimates that the increased airlift will result in a measurable increase in tourism revenue, which contributes significantly to the overall economic development of the island. This will encourage investment, drive business for local vendors, and support the growth of small and medium-sized businesses in the hospitality sector.

A heartfelt thank you to the Government of Dominica, especially the Ministry of Tourism, DDA, and DASPA, for their unwavering commitment and hard work in expanding air access to our island. The DHTA is excited for this new chapter and looks forward to the continued growth of our tourism industry.
