Obituary of Alberta Christian of 24 Didier Lane, who was born in St. Joseph and later resided in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, USA

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Alberta Christian of 24 Didier Lane, who was born in St. Joseph and who later resided in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, USA.

Sunrise: June 12, 1929

Sunset: February 4, 2025

Initially a telephone operator and mental health nurse, Mrs. Christian received the Meritorious Service Award in1982 for her distinguished service to the disabled and as Director of the Dominica Workshop for the Blind. She was also active in the Dominica Red Cross and Social League.

She was preceded in death by:

Her husband, Wendell McKenzie Christian, a former British Army World War II veteran and Station Officer of the Dominica Fire Service.

Her son, Dr. Wellsworth M. Christian, Chief Veterinary Officer of Dominica.

Her daughter, Christalin Christian.

She will be greatly missed by her surviving:

Sons: Lawson M. Christian in New York; Dr. Samuel J. Christian and Gabriel J. Christian, Esquire, in Maryland

Daughters: Esther E. Christian and Theresa H. Christian in Maryland.

Granddaughters: Nicole Christian in the USA, Trudy Christian in Dominica, Samora Christian, and Britt Christian in the USA.

Grandsons: Kwame Christian Esquire, Kobie Christian, Tyler Christian, Makonnen Christian and Kelan Christian in the USA

Great-grandchildren: Kai Christian and Dominic Christian in the USA

Daughters-in-law: Mary Christian, June Christian, and Joan Christian

Granddaughters-in-law: Dr. Whitney Christian and Victoria Christian

 Brothers: Washington John Baptiste and Johnson John Baptiste.

Extended family: Alicia Jean-Jacques,  Marcia Hibbert, Edith Francois, and Sandra Benjamin

Nephews and nieces are too numerous to mention. Friends and relatives are too numerous to mention.

Wake: Thursday, February 20, 2025, at J.B. JENKINS FUNERAL HOME, 7474 Landover Rd. from 6 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service of our dearly departed Alberta Christian will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 2020 St. Joseph Dr., Largo, MD.

 Viewing is from 10 a.m. followed by the Mass at 11 a.m. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to www.rebuilddominica.org to continue Alberta Christian’s commitment to agriculture, education, and community development.
