The Minister for Health, Wellness and Social Services of Dominica, Cassani Laville, together with the Ambassador of Cuba, Miguel Fraga, welcomed at the Douglas-Charles International Airport a new group of Cuban professionals who will join the Cuban Medical Brigade providing services in the so-called “Island of Nature”.
In a simple but warm ceremony, Minister Laville expressed his deepest gratitude to the cooperants, highlighting their commitment to provide quality medical care to the Dominican population. “We appreciate the sacrifice they make by being away from their loved ones, our commitment is to do everything in our power to make them feel well here,” said the official.
For his part, Ambassador Fraga reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to international solidarity and cooperation in health, highlighting the historical role of Cuban medical missions as an example of altruism and brotherhood.
The group of collaborators, made up of doctors, nurses and pharmacists, will be assigned to different health centers throughout the island, strengthening key areas of medical attention.
The relationship between Dominica and Cuba has deep roots in health cooperation, which began in the 1990s.
The arrival of this new team consolidates the historical ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, reaffirming an alliance based on solidarity, mutual respect and commitment to the welfare of their peoples.
