Castle Bruce Water Supply Improvements

The Dominica Water and Sewerage Company Limited (DOWASCO) wishes to inform the residents of Castle Bruce that it is fully aware of the ongoing challenges with the water supply in the community, particularly in the upper regions, including Senhouse, Enbas Snow, Elmshall, and Jalousie.

These areas are experiencing interruptions due to issues within the distribution network, which is aging and in need of significant upgrades.

Despite the diligent efforts of our repair crews who have worked tirelessly to address leaks along the pipeline, the system remains vulnerable due to its deteriorating infrastructure. Several leaks have continued to disrupt service, and as a result, we recognize the hardship this is causing the affected residents.

In the short term, DOWASCO will be implementing urgent measures to help mitigate the situation. Temporary water lines will be installed to enhance the distribution of water to these areas. This will provide immediate relief and improve access to water for our customers.

In the long term, DOWASCO is committed to providing a permanent solution through a comprehensive upgrade of the Castle Bruce water system. As part of the Water Sector Strategic Development Project, the following works will be undertaken:

  • Construction of a new intake system on the Yellow Stone / Raymond Stone River
  • Installation of a new 100,000-gallon storage tank
  • Construction of a new pump station and associated supply pipelines
  • Replacement of aged distribution pipelines within the village, along with new control valves to improve overall system performance

These enhancements will ensure a more reliable and abundant water supply for the residents of Castle Bruce.

DOWASCO is in the process of procuring the necessary pipes and fittings for this project and we anticipate that work will begin in March 2025 with completion expected by march 2026.

We sincerely thank the community for its patience and understanding as we work to improve the water system and provide more reliable service to Castle Bruce.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
