Dominica marked the inaugural cruise call of the MV Villa Vie Odyssey for the 2024/2025 season today at the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth. To commemorate this special occasion, a plaque exchange ceremony was held aboard the ship, celebrating its unique visit to the island.
As of November 12, 2024, Dominica has already welcomed 14 cruise vessels, bringing 27,871 passengers to its shores. Of these visitors, 23,530 disembarked to explore the island’s diverse offerings, while 9,895 enjoyed guided tours. December is expected to be particularly busy, with 49 vessels anticipated to arrive and an estimated 65,752 passengers set to experience the island.
The Ministry of Tourism reports that the 2024/2025 season is projected to feature 236 cruise calls, including 11 inaugural visits from new ships. To enhance visitor experiences, several initiatives are underway, including the transformation of the Bayfront vending space and the upcoming Cable Car Project. Additionally, plans for expanding the Bayfront pier are being implemented to accommodate the growing number of cruise visitors.
The Government of Dominica continues to encourage collaboration among tourism stakeholders to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that highlights the best of what the island has to offer. With ongoing efforts to promote Dominica as a premier cruise destination, officials remain dedicated to increasing cruise calls and strengthening tourism on the Nature Isle.
