11 Scholarships Awarded to Dominican Students for Studies in Cuba

In a significant step towards strengthening educational ties between the Commonwealth of Dominica and Cuba, eleven promising young Dominicans have been awarded scholarships to pursue higher education in Cuba. The announcement was made during a special ceremony, where the Cuban Ambassador to Dominica delivered a heartfelt message, highlighting the longstanding cooperation between the two nations.

Out of the eleven recipients, two students are already en route to Cuba, while the remaining nine were present at the ceremony to receive their official documentation. The scholarships cover a range of fields, including medicine, physical rehabilitation, nursing, oncology, civil engineering, and architecture.

The Cuban Ambassador expressed deep pride in the educational partnership between the two countries, noting that the collaboration dates back to before the establishment of diplomatic relations. He recalled the historic journey of the first group of Dominican students to Cuba in 1979, just one year after Dominica’s independence, and celebrated the over 400 Dominican graduates who have since contributed to their nation’s development.

The Ambassador urged the scholarship recipients to embrace this opportunity with passion and determination, reminding them of the importance of their cultural identity and values. He also acknowledged the challenges posed by the U.S. sanctions on Cuba but reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to solidarity.

In his closing remarks, the Ambassador thanked the families, educators, and authorities in Dominica, particularly the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for their support in making these scholarships possible. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy.
