Former  Assistant Chief Youth Development Officer, Amoy Williams dies at 75

Former Assistant Chief Youth Development Officer, Mrs Amoy Williams has transitioned this life.  Amoy who was   from the community of Colihaut and resided in the United States died on Thursday 8th August following a brief period of  hospitalization in the states  .

Former colleagues at the Youth Development Division describe Amoy as a truly wonderful woman whose relationship with all those whom she knew , encountered or worked with was truly remarkable. According to former Chief Youth Development Officer Ms Elizabeth Alfred ,  “Amoy demonstrated genuine skills and qualities  of  a  youth development worker as she not only sang and promoted, but became a living testimony of “Youth Power” the Youth Anthem. “

To educate and train our minds , To contribute to leadership.

To organize and stress our needs, Our culture, work and sportsmanship

To demonstrate  and  to understand

To get involved and lend a hand.

 Ms. Caesarina Paul the current acting Chief Youth Development Officer describes Amoy as  “ a mother figure who took her under her wings and shared with her  nuggets of the art of youth work both verbally and practically. Amoy  truly loved youth work and the YDD and  I will cherish in my lifetime her impact on my personal growth and journey”.

 Past and current staff  at the Youth Development Division as well as other friends will come together  to reflect on the life and work  of this pioneer  in Youth Development in Dominica in the 1970s/80s/90s  at  a Vigil Service on Friday 16th August at  3.00pm at the Diocesan Youth Centre on Independence Street in Roseau. The funeral Mass of the late Amoy Williams will take place on Saturday 17th August at 9.30am at the St Martin de Pores Catholic Church in Poughkeepise , New York.

Amoy is survived by her 3 children : Amelia, Baden and Andy, her siblings,  nieces and  nephews and numerous other relatives  and friends .
