About the Artists
Aaron Hamilton is renowned for capturing the vibrance, peace and beauty of Dominican landscapes and urban scenes, leaving viewers inspired by his vivid imagery and striking detail. This self taught artist works primarily in acrylics and continues to organize various art exhibitions throughout the year in his position as Senior Offcer and Lead Visual Arts Instructor of the Dominica Institute of the Arts at the Old Mill Cultural Center.
Carol Sorhaindo brings a distinct perspective to the exhibition with her belief in the value of creative expressions, nature and heritage awareness on mental wellbeing. Her art emphasizes the connections between people, nature, and the cultural practices that have been passed down through generations, with her inspiration being drawn from heritage landscapes. The need for greater connection to culture, people and the land lead to her move back home to Dominica and this story has informed her refective pieces.
“Fragments and Rust” is not just an exhibition but a journey through the artists’ personal experiences and their refections on the societal and cultural dynamics of Dominica. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of stories and emotions that the artists have masterfully woven into their works.
