Roseau, Dominica: May 23, 2024 —- Family and friends of the late Dominica cultural icon, Delmance Ras Mo Moses plans a big send off to this outstanding performance-poet, drummer, cultural activist and pan Africanist with a Memorial Tribute planned for Point Mulatre, Dominica this Sunday 26th May, from 12 p.m.
The Memorial dubbed “Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Ras Mo” will bring together artists, cultural practitioners, members of the local Rastafarian community and Pan-Africanists in a day of celebrations and remembrance. According to organisers of the event,
On Sunday May 26th, 2024, the family, friends and colleagues of Ras Mo will gather at Point Mulatre to celebrate his life and legacy. Ras Mo Moses was a beloved figure whose impact resonates deeply within our community. This heartfelt memorial will feature musical tributes from groups he influenced, showcasing the profound mark he left on their lives and art.
The organisers are urging local friends and former colleagues of Ras Mo to:

Ras mo who died in the United States on April 25, 2024, was a prolific writer, musician, performance-poet and cultural worker who spent most of his life in the service of the arts and culture of Dominica and the region. For many years he was one of the spearheads of the Movement for Cultural Awareness (MCA) and the Eastern Caribbean Popular Theatre Organization (ECPTO), leading in the implementation of a theatre and cultural tool to advance local, national and regional participatory democracy and sustainable development. His work as a drummer and musician is also very well-known particularly as he helped to revolutionize and popularize performance poetry using a mix of rhythms and languages including Creole. Ras Mo also worked as a cultural officer with the Cultural Division in Dominica and in popular education and community mobilization in various parts of the United States. His work with youth in anti-violence will long be remembered for its empowering ethos and ability to provide young people with the necessary tools to improve their lives and create opportunities for their self-empowerment.
Meanwhile, former members of the MCA will hold a special Virtual Memorial Tribute for Ras Mo on Sunday 2nd June, from 5:00 p.m. to feature a mix of performances and tributes from family, friends and former colleagues of Ras Mo from Dominica, the Caribbean and North America. The programme will be live streamed to interested persons on various social media platforms.
