DISCOVER DOMINICA AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES FIRST PRESS CONFERENCE FOR CARNIVAL 2024

ROSEAU, Dominica (January 2, 2024) – The countdown to Mas Domnik, the Real Mas, has officially begun! The Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) is thrilled to host its first press conference for the eagerly awaited Carnival Season. This pivotal conference will be the source of all crucial details about the carnival season, including the schedule of events, information on the opening of the carnival, and measures to ensure an enjoyable and safe experience for all attendees.

The press conference is set to take place on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Old Mill Cultural Center. This event will feature speakers such as the Honourable Denise Charles-Pemberton, Minister for Tourism; Colin Piper, CEO of Discover Dominica Authority; Charlene White-Christian, Carnival Road Parade Coordinator; and various Carnival event organizers. Together, they will unveil the exciting plans for this year’s Carnival, with a particular focus on the opening of the carnival slated for Saturday, January 6, 2024.

Known as ‘The Real Mas,’ Mas Domnik, Dominica’s Carnival, is a unique blend of African and French traditions. This vibrant festival takes place in the traditional pre-Lenten time. It features a feast of calypso music, various Carnival competitions, and activities leading up to two exhilarating days of street jump-ups. With its rich cultural heritage and lively atmosphere, Mas Domnik, the Real Mas, is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the true spirit of Dominica.
