WePlanet Inc., a pioneering non-profit social enterprise based in Dominica, has proudly achieved success as one of the 15 winners in the third edition of the Commonwealth Secretary-General’s Innovation for Sustainable Development awards, specifically in the “Protect the PLANET” and natural environment category. Out of thousands of innovations from across the Commonwealth, WePlanet Inc. stood out, showcasing its commitment to innovative, incentive-based solutions that contribute to the advancement of sustainable development goals.
Commonwealth Secretary-General Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC, speaking at the official opening ceremony of Kenya Innovation Week on Monday, emphasized, “Innovation is the engine of progress.” WePlanet Inc. stands as a testament to this statement, aspiring to be a major driving force in achieving climate resilience and promoting eco-friendly habits. Addressing Kenya’s President William Ruto, Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC stated “Applicants go through a process as extensive and robust as we did to get the jobs we now have”.
Christianna Paul, Founder and Chief Operations Officer of WePlanet Inc., represented the esteemed team of co-founders and directors, including Kyanna Dyer, Kyra Edwards, Mhea Bardouille, and Zebadijah Maxwell, at the prestigious awards ceremony held on Monday, 27th November 2023, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The awards aim to recognize and celebrate the contributions of innovators in the public, private, and voluntary sectors across the Commonwealth, driving progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). WePlanet Inc.’s success in the “Protect the PLANET” category is a testament to its dedication to the environmental pillar of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Each of the 15 award winners, three from each Commonwealth region, received a trophy, a certificate, and a £3,000 cash prize for their groundbreaking innovations across five categories, aligned with the pillars of the 2030 Agenda: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership.
