DOMINICA TO HOLD BRANDING AND MARKETING WORKSHOP FOR CREATIVE SECTOR

Roseau, Dominica: November 2, 2023 — Dominica’s Ministry of Sports, Culture, Youth and Community Development in association with the Organisation of American States Secretariat for Integral Development (OAS-SEDI) holds a two day workshop on Personal Branding and Strategic Marketing for the Creative Industries Sector, from Tuesday 7th to Wednesday 8th November, at the Goodwill Parish Hall.

The workshop which targets creative entrepreneurs and artists across Dominica is designed to explore primarily the key components which aid in the application and understanding of what a personal brand is and how to cultivate and uniquely showcase the brand in this highly competitive creative and cultural industry. The course will also introduce participants to marketing strategies and key terms and concepts that are fundamental to social media marketing.

The two day workshop is part of an on-going programme of technical assistance by the OAS-Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI) to the Government of Dominica to help accelerate the growth and development of the Creative Industries Sector in Dominica. It will be facilitated by Trinidadian and UWI lecturer and branding and marketing expert, Ms. Marissa Brooks.

Additionally, the workshop will provide the opportunity for the OAS -SEDI to present to the Government of Dominica the Caribbean Creative Sector Regional Toolkit based on the Asset Mapping of the Creative Sector in Dominica which was commissioned by the OAS and carried out last year. Participants will also have the opportunity to hear a special presentation by a representative of New Orleans’ Ashe Cultural Centre on a Proposed Hemispheris Carnival Project being developed in partnership with the OAS.

Dominica’s creative sector is expected to benefit tremendously from this unique and critical intervention by the Ministry of Culture and the OAS. The intent is to help in spurr greater interest in and building a robust entrepreneurial culture among those who are engaged in the production and marketing of creative goods and services in Dominica.
