Distinguished Former Educator Set to Receive Prestigious Meritorious Service Award

Annually, the nation’s Head of State bestows the Meritorious Service Award upon individuals and organisations celebrated for their exceptional contributions to public life.

Among these remarkable figures stands Mrs. Agnes Cynthia Joseph, a retired teacher from Portsmouth Secondary School. Mrs. Joseph is slated to receive the Meritorious Service Award from the Government of Dominica during the ceremony commemorating the country’s 45th year of independence, on November 3, 2023.

This illustrious recognition, ranking as the country’s third highest honour following the Dominica Award of Honour and the Sisserou Award of Honour, is being granted to Mrs. Joseph in appreciation of her unwavering dedication to the Ministry of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Community Development.

Mrs. Olivia Douglas, a committed, long-serving nurse, and Mrs. Vinna Delia Royer, a former teacher at the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School, will accompany Mrs. Joseph to accept the medal from Her Excellency Mrs. Sylavnie Burton, the President of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

he award presentation will take place on Friday, November 3, 2023, as part of the Independence Day Observance Ceremony at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium at 10 am.
